With Bengaluru FC becoming the first club in Indian history to enter the AFC Cup final, head coach Albert Roca was very satisfied with achievement.

Bengaluru FC defeated Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim 3-1 in the AFC Cup semi-finals on Thursday.

“It’s a great day. Perhaps today we can say that India is not just a cricket country anymore. Because there is a football shift and that’s something important and we are happy for that. Everyone is involved, not just us, but all teams in India, so it’s very important,” he remarked.

“To win the title would be an incredible reward for all of us. We have to keep working hard with the same mentality and behaviour and if we do that, we will have our chances,” added the Spaniard.

The Spaniard appreciated the fans for their consistent support, with the Kanteerava Stadium teeming with fans who cheered their hearts out for their side.

”Fans were part of the success from the first minute. They didn’t stop their support.  This was my first experience with them. I am glad to see so many fans and with this kind of supporters, we can go everywhere,” the coach said.

The Indian team face their date with destiny on November 5 when they take on Air Force Club in the Final of the AFC Cup.

FIA wishes to congratulate Albert, his assistant coach Carles Cuadrat and the club on their achievement.
