Buriram United secure back-to-back Thai Premier League titles

Goals from Spaniards Carmelo Gonzalez and David Rochela Calvo helped Buriram United retain its crown with a 2-1 home victory over 10-man Police United.

Surachart Sareepim pulled a goal back for Police, but it was ultimately in vain as Buriram United held on to secure top spot.

The club finishes the campaign three points clear of Chonburi after the latter was held to a 1-1 draw by TOT.

The point was not enough to keep TOT in the top flight, with Police United staying up at its expense courtesy of a better goal difference.

Gonzalez gave the defending champions an early lead, beating the offside trap and shooting truly.

In the second half, Police United were reduced to 10 men when Adul Muensaman fouled Adisak Kraisorn in the penalty area and was sent off. David Rochela converted the spot kick to put Buriram United 2-0 ahead.

Javier Patino finished the season as the club’s leading goal scorer with 21 goals.
