Javi Fuego secures UEFA Champions League football with Valencia

Javi Fuego and Valencia CF have secured their place in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League play-offs.

Valencia’s hopes of a return to the Champions League were given an almighty fright by Almeria as they twice went in front in the first-half.

But Javi Fuego somehow managed to clawback a deep cross and put it on a platter for Sofiane Feghouli who tapped home from close range.

With both teams chasing the winner, Paco Alcacer coolly slotted past Ruben Martinez 11 minutes from time.

Valencia’s victory rendered Sevilla’s 3-2 win at Malaga meaningless as they finished a point back in fifth.

Fuego enjoyed a standout season for Valencia, appearing in 28 matches and scoring 3 goals en-route to securing a two-year contract extension with the club.
