Carmelo Gonzalez

Carmelo Gonzalez Jimenez (9 July 1983) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Suphanburi FC in the Thai Premier League, as an attacking midfielder.


Carmelo Gonzalez graduated from hometown clubUD Las Palmas’ youth ranks.  In his first main squad appearance, in 2001–02’s La Liga, he scored in a 3–0 away win against RCD Mallorca on 26 August 2001, and would play a further three seasons with the club in the second (two) and third divisions (one).

Carmelo Gonzalez joined Levante UD in 2005–06, where he would be a key figure in the Valencian Community side’s promotion to La Liga, but would only appear in six matches in the following season, finishing it with Hércules CF.

In 2007–08, Carmelo Gonzalez moved to CD Numancia, scoring seven goals (third-best in squad) en route to another top flight promotion. He then switched in the next season to another promotee, Sporting de Gijón, netting in back-to-back wins in October against Mallorca, CA Osasuna and Deportivo de La Coruña, as the Asturians retained their division status.

In the following three seasons Carmelo Gonzalez struggled with injury, but managed to be relatively used by Sporting.

Carmelo Gonzalez left Sporting Gijón in February 2013 and signed with Buriram United in the Thai Premier League.

In his first season with the club, He has scored 23 goals in 23 games in the Thai Premier League and a further 3 goals in cup matches. He won the TPL Golden Boot Award, man of the Match Award for the Thai FA Cup and was a member of the TPL Best XI.
